Jannik Sinner will make his return to tennis at the 2025 Italian Open.

Jannik Sinner's return to competitive tennis may have dominated the headlines in the lead-up to the 2025 Italian Open, but there are plenty of other storylines to entertain tennis obsessives. Want to know where to watch the Italian Open? We have all the information you need below.

Sinner heads to his home country's ATP event still at the apex of the men's world rankings. His last match on court was January's straight sets win over Alexander Zverev in the Australian Open final. He's sailed through the tournament so far, only dropping one set in the semifinals. He'll face off with Carlos Alcaraz and the final, which is scheduled for Sunday.

The women's tournament has also seen an Italian make it to the final. World No. 5 Jasmine Paolini will square off with No. 3 Coco Gauff. Last year's finalists are nowhere in sight, with 2024 Italian Open champ (and current No. 2) Iga Swiatek bounced in an upset in the Round of 32. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka was also eliminated in the quarterfinals.

With the French Open less than two weeks away, this clay court tournament in Rome should prove a handy indicator of who might capture the second Grand Slam of the season. Read on to discover where to watch Italian Open live streams, global TV channels, and how using a VPN can help when you're trying to watch overseas.

Where to watch the Italian Open in the US

Along with this season's other men's ATP Masters 1000 and women's WTA 1000 tournaments, the Tennis Channel is set to show the 2025 Italian Open in the US. As well as having its own streaming platform (costing $10/month or $110/year), the Tennis Channel can be found on a variety of cable packages and, for cord-cutters, month-to-month live streaming services.

Sling TV is one of the most affordable options you can get. First, you need one of its standard Sling Orange or Blue plans — each one costs $46/month with your first month half price and has an individual selection of channels included (check out our dedicated guide to Sling Orange vs. Blue to help you choose the best option for your viewing habits). From there, you then need to add Sports Extra for an additional $11/month to get the Tennis Channel.

DirecTV is a more comprehensive cord-cutting option, with the Tennis Channel appearing among channel lineups of its Choice, Ultimate, and Premier tiers. They cost $90/month, $120/month and $165/month respectively (before the extra regional sports and Gemini lease fees), and all include more than 125 channels. Once you've chosen your base plan, you can personalize your plans by adding further channels through DirecTV's various add-ons. DirecTV offers a five-day free trial for new users.

The Tennis Channel is also available with Fubo's immense Elite plan that features almost 300 channels. It costs $95/month (before regional sports fees), but you can save $20 on your first month and, for new users of Fubo, there's a seven-day free trial that lets you try before you buy.

Daily action from Rome is being shown daily on Sky Sports from both the women's and men's draws in Rome until their respective finals on May 17 and 18. That means you'll need a Sky TV plan that includes Sky Sports. These start from £35/month and also include more than 100 other channels and access to Discovery+ and Netflix. Or, if you already have Sky, you can add its nine sports channels for an extra £22/month.

If you don't want to sign up to a lengthy Sky TV package, then you can opt for a more flexible Now Sports Membership, which starts from as little as £15/day or costs £35/month on a rolling basis. The best value is its 6-Month Saver Membership that costs $26/month for half a year.

How to watch the Italian Open from anywhere

If you want to stream the Italian Open from outside your country, you'll need a VPN (virtual private network). The tool helps you get around the region restrictions that will render your usual streaming service useless when abroad.

From all the VPNs we've tested and reviewed, ExpressVPN is one of our very favorites. In addition to unlocking many streaming services that become blocked when overseas, it's also an invaluable layer of extra cybersecurity for everything you do online. It's fast, easy to use, and can be tried for 30 days without risk thanks to its quibble-free money-back guarantee. Discover more in our ExpressVPN review.

How to watch the Italian Open with a VPN

  • Sign up for a VPN if you don't already have one.
  • Install it on the device you're using to watch.
  • Turn it on and set it to the location of your streaming service.
  • Sign up for one of the above streaming services.
  • Enjoy the tournament.

Note: The use of VPNs is illegal in certain countries and using VPNs to access region-locked streaming content might constitute a breach of the terms of use for certain services. Business Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal use of VPNs.
